Before you buy, read this to find out if the Galaxy A13 5G comes with a charger

The Galaxy A13 5G is an affordable 5G smartphone, but does Samsung include a bundled charger in the retail box? Here's what you need to know.

Samsung Galaxy A13 5G with Samsung Charger

Samsung launched the Galaxy A13 5G as an affordable smartphone that supports the next generation of connectivity but does it come with a charger? A few years ago, all smartphones came with a charger in the box, and the question of whether a phone would come with a power adapter did not exist. However, Apple took the industry by surprise by removing the in-box charger with the iPhone 12, and it has not shipped a single iPhone with a charger since. Other companies at first (including Samsung) at first made fun of Apple, then followed in its footsteps soon after.

Samsung started shipping its flagship Galaxy S series without chargers, and in 2022, the trend made its way to budget smartphones, including the Samsung Galaxy A series. The Samsung Galaxy A13 5G does not come with a charger in its box. Those who wish to purchase the smartphone will have to pay extra to get a power adapter. While it might make the smartphone environmentally friendly, it isn't pleasant for users' pockets, especially for a device priced at $237. In the Samsung Galaxy A13 5G box, shoppers get the smartphone, a Type-C data cable, a SIM ejector pin, and a few manuals. That is it there is no power brick.

Why Doesn't The Galaxy A13 5G Come With A Charger?

Samsung says that shipping smartphones without chargers is better for the environment. First, not including a charger with smartphones reduces the size of its box, requiring less packaging material that might end up in a landfill. Second, transporting smaller containers is more convenient and requires less fuel. However, there is another side to this. There is a good chance that users who purchase the Galaxy A13 5G will end up paying an extra $14.99 for the 15W charger by Samsung.

It is worth mentioning that power adapters are not that expensive to manufacture. By selling the accessory separately, Samsung saves the cost it bears in putting together the retail box of a smartphone and earns more money from people purchasing the charger. Additionally, Samsung plans to remove the in-box chargers from more smartphones in the Galaxy A, Galaxy M, and Galaxy F series. To sum up, if someone has a spare charger that matches the charging rate of Galaxy A13 5G, well and good. If not, one can purchase the accessory from Samsung or third-party manufacturers.

Does The Galaxy A13 Have Wireless Charging?

For Galaxy A13 buyers who want to know if the phone comes with wireless charging, the answer is, unfortunately, no. The Galaxy A13 is an affordable smartphone, and wireless charging is a feature that's usually reserved for premium smartphones. Samsung offers wireless charging on its flagship phones, including the Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Fold, and Galaxy Z Flip series. It's also available on the Galaxy S21 FE, which is an affordable flagship. At the moment, Samsung doesn't offer wireless charging on its Galaxy A-series models, even the more expensive ones like the Galaxy A53.

The smartphone packs a 5000mAh (15W) battery that Samsung says can last two days on a full charge. The Galaxy A13 does technically support fast charging, though at a maximum of 15W, it’ll still feel sluggish compared to premium devices, taking a few hours to charge up completely. It also comes with battery optimization features like Power Saving Mode, which will cut down on apps’ background usage, and Screen Timeout. Features like Adaptive Brightness, which automatically changes the phone’s brightness level, can also help save power. As for the charger type, the A13 has a USB-C port for charging, just like Samsung’s other smartphones.

The best bet for Galaxy A13 users, then, is to use a 15W charger to get the fastest possible charging speeds on their phone. Granted, 15W isn't very fast given that competing devices like the Nord N20 5G offer 33W fast charging and a bundled charger in the box. Even though Samsung sells its own chargers, users might be better off picking up a cheaper third-party 15W charger from reliable brands Amazon Basics and Spigen instead.
